Row by Row First Quilt

This Quilt was started because my husband's Cousin Bonnie went around and retrieved patterns from stores near her.  Not known to me she actually knew someone in NYC and had him go and purchase the kit for me.  After reviewing the kit I choose not to make it. I thought it was great but I want to take a different route.  So I ended up selling the kit !

But the patterns that she retrieved are fabulous and I decided to turn to my stash making these for her. I also know that she is selling her Mother's home.  One of the rows is a house so I am going to change this row to her Mom's house. I hope that I can get it finished by the anniversary date of her Mom's passing.

The rows exploded by receiving rows from her friends from North Carolina.  There's even a row from her Son and Daughter in law from Canada !!  I am hoping to get the rows from her friends combined with rows from where she lives in Pittsburgh - Apollo and where she used to live in Erie !

I really feel that it's important to make these but make them with your flare of creativity.  I know both of them were volunteers at their local Fire Station.  Fortunately, I was able to get "Sparky" the dog who us a firefighter. !  Knowing all these things this shall be a great littke keepsake !

Sunday Ride ! Cherry Blossoms Pattern

Sunday Ride !  Cherry Blossoms Pattern.

This Stunning Quilt Pattern was purchased at the Bernina Sewing Center in Florida on my August trip doing the Row by Row hop.  The pattern was $ 44.99.  It is a pattern that many quilt shops use as a Monthly Block of the Month pattern.  I decided to purchase the pattern and continue to work on in the upcoming weeks.  I purchased the fabrics at my favorite Sewing Quilt Shop in Lyndhurst, Ohio, J. Ellen House of Fabrics.  Using mostly Moda fabrics.  I followed the amount of fabric needed for the Quilt.  Extremely well written directions. It would of been fabulous if I had read all the instructions prior to my first cut.  You must do that with some of these.  You must cut the Wide Borders first using the entire length of the aqua fabric that you purchase.  Fortunately, she has enough left on the bolt as I will finish the Wide Borders when I return home.  I am having her send me the length of the Quilt in a piece to my home.  There is a skinny blue border first then a checkerboard grey and white border.  Then a Wide Border of the blue Aqua.  So I guess I am at a stopping point.  However, I am elated to have finished this project in the Sunshine State of my Childhood home Florida !    The finished size of the Quilt is 67.5 X 85.5    I plan to Long Arm the Quilt the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving.

Attached are some of the photos that I have taken along the journey of making such a beautiful piece.  This finished quilt will find it's home on the wall of my New Guest Room.  The walls are Yellow and is trimmed with blue and yellow Quilts on the bedding.  I recently made a Log Cabin Quilt for the same room.  So this should finish the room quite nicely.  Enjoy the photos.  I did change one of the blocks from the Scotty to my very own little Westie, LILY !

Alma Sue's Quilt Shop

My visit to Alma Sue's Quilt Shop was Awesome !  I totally enjoyed the shop.  She had many Quilts for Sale !  The prices on them were reasonable.  Think that many of these may of be sold on Consignment ?  Many are very beautiful.

I immediately fell in love with the beauty of the Row by Row.  It is so well made.  I met the Artist who created this beautiful Row and she gave me tips on how to sew it so that my row project goes smoothly ! Pretty excited that I stopped to get this Row !

She is hand quilting a quilt on the frame. My goodness her stitches are so small and even. I was in awe of these littke stitches. Not sure if Quilters are stitching their work by hand lately.  I think that the long arm has taken over !  I too want to learn how to do the stitching on a long arm. I will be able to actually complete more Quilts this way. But there are still projects I will purchase and hand Quilt !
